OSSTF/FEESO is a recognized trade union under the Ontario Labour Relations Act and bargains collectively for its members.
Separate collective agreements are negotiated between each of the 150 bargaining units and their employers and are unique to each bargaining unit.
Pay Equity
Since the establishment of the Pay Equity Act in 1990, OSSTF/FEESO has been and continues to be the public sector leader in negotiating and maintaining Pay Equity Plans for its members.
To address compliance with the Pay Equity Act, OSSTF/FEESO has developed a singular, comprehensive gender neutral comparison system for the education sector. The OSSTF/FEESO Job Evaluation System (JES) has been used effectively across the Province with elementary, secondary, college and university employers, in English and French public and separate Boards of Education.
Through regular reviews the JES remains valid, reliable, current and appropriate for the nature and services of educational organizations.
Bargaining Unit training and assistance are key protective services provided by dedicated staff throughout the lengthy processes of pay equity. Access to these services is through the OSSTF/FEESO Protective Services Department.
